MECHANISM OF ACTION
Glimepride primarily lower blood glucose by stimulating the release of insulin from pancreatic beta cells. Glimepride used when diet exercise and weight reduction have not been found to control blood sugar well enough on their own. Glimipiride increase the amount of insulin released by the pancreas and helps the body use insulin more efficiently . Metformin is apreparation of Metformin Hydrochloride . Metformin Hydrochloride a biguanide type oral anti hyperglycemic agent used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Metformin Hydrochloride (ER) lower both and postprandial plasma glucose .
Metformin mechanism of action is different from those of sulfonylureaâs and it does not produce hypoglycemia .Metformin decrease hepatic glucose production , decrease intestinal absorption of glucose , and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.
